GIORGIO GRASSI
Giorgio Grassi (Milan, 1935), Professor of Architectural Project at the Milan Polytechnic Faculty of Architecture since 1977, also taught at the Faculty of Architecture of Pescara, in ETS of Valencia, in EPF of Lausanne and ETH of Zurich. An Honorary Member of the BDA (Bund deustcher Architekten) and Internationale Bauakademie Berlin for his work, he received the "Valencia Architecture Award" (1985), the "Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal" from Stiftung FVS in Hamburg (1992), the Berlin “Architektur-Preis"(2003) and the “ArPa Fil Architecture Award”, from Guadalajara, Mexico (2008). Among his latest written works are Scritti scelti 1965-1999 (Franco Angeli, 2000), Leon Battista Alberti e l'arquitetura romana (Franco Angeli, 2007) and Una vita da architetto (Franco Angeli, 2008); among the publications of his works, Giorgio Grassi opere e progetti (Electa, 2004). Among his best known achievements are: student house in Chieti (1976-1979), the Sagunto Roman theatre (1985-1992), the libraries in Groningen (1989-1992) and Valencia (1990-1998), and the ABB Roland Ernst complex in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin (1993-2001). Finally, in Italy, the new headquarters for Cassa di Risparmio of Florence (2004-2008).
